University of California at Riverside (UCR), Sikh Chair:

The Sikh chair was established  to study about Sikhs and Punjabi by the Sikh Foundation who raised $500,000 in recognition of the late and honorable Dr. Jasbir Singh Saini, a Phoenix cardiologist who spent his time helping people. The chair was appointed to Pashaura Singh who has been employed since 2005 at the University of Michigan. A peaceful protest  was done by local  Gurdwaras and sikh Community against the University of California at Riverside (UCR) on September 26, 2008 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Dr. Jasbir Singh Saini's wife, Saranjit Kaur Saini, even wrote a letter to the former UCR Chancellor, France Cordova, to choose a more appropriate and competent scholar.
