The Telegraph:
Sipra Deb, daughter of UK-based NRI Protul Deb,
has alleged that the government is dragging its feet
on the investigation into the abduction of her father
from Hailakandi last year.
She also ruled out the involvement of any militant
outfit in the incident. Sipra alleged that not only
had the Tarun Gogoi government gone back on its commitment
to hand over the case to the CBI but some of the kidnappers
who were arrested have also been set free.
We were assured that the CBI would be asked
to investigate. Six months have elapsed but the inquiry
has not yet started, she said. Fifteen people
involved in the case were arrested only to be released
a few days later, she added.
