Los Angeles, Sep. 03, 2007
Gary Singh
NRI director and producer, Pardeep Singh from LA told our senior
reporter that a documentary film “FARZ” will be released
on Sep 15, 2007. It is the story- with a reminder and thank you
note to NRIs. (Non Resident Indians) who are contributing to their
motherland.
The film intelligently depicts the necessity and benefits of donation
to the field of education, especially in rural’ Punjab. Beside
highlighting some of the problems of the rural Punjab, the film
sheds light on the solutions also.
The main purpose of this film is to salute the donors and remind
other NRIs about their duty towards their motherland. It is based
on a case study of the Girls School of Barapind in the Jalandhar
District Of Punjab. Due to participation and donations by NRIs and
local residents, the school has a beautiful building and the students
are excelling in education, sports, music and extra curricular activities.
NRIs have recharged the school staff, management, students and the
local residents. Pleased with new infrastructure they are very motivated
to perform and succeed.
The film poignancy portrays the causes and effects of illiteracy.
Punjab is currently engulfed in slow economic growth, cultural imbalances]
uncertainty among youth, deteriorating natural resources, poverty
in farming community and female feticide. The promotion of rural
education is the last thing on authorities’“to do list’.
This film, while applauding NRIs contributions, san effort to motivate
NRIs to participate more aggressively to stay connected to their
roots, satisfy their nostalgic emptiness and for preservation of
our traditional cultural and social values. Especially, now that
they can afford to it and fulfil their desire and duty to give back
to homeland.
The documentary has interviews from the experts on the subject
