Shot entirely in Houston, the movie is about a middle-aged
man who struggles to cope with the untimely, tragic
death of his beloved wife. The surrounding needs and
advances of family and friends ultimately lead him
to take the most important decision of his life, taking
this slice-of-life drama from the ordinary to the
extraordinary.
Though the film is blessed with a superb cast, Hollywood
director Bob Roe has them perform with oddly uniform
politeness and reserve. While such sunny formality
is consistent with the script's gentle sensibilities,
it precludes the naturalism needed to make the characters
feel real.
