As the two Major organizations in California, UFICA and FIAsc, join hands again with unity and strength, to celebrate India Republic Day 2012, commemorating the Day on which the Constitution of India came into force as the Governing Document of India on January 26, 1950. It is hard to believe that this is the 62nd Year under India Leadership and completion at the transition towards becoming an Independent Republic. This Day was chosen as it was the Anniversary of 'Purna Swaraj Day'.

UFICA and FIAsc celebrated India Republic Day at the Golden Sails Hotel, Best Western, at Long Beach, California, USA, on January 28, 2012 with Grandiosity and Elegance. The super organizational skills of the talented and proficient members of both Organizations, with the only objective to wholeheartedly serve the community, led by the Executive Committee Members and the Senior Members, Founders, Trustees, Advisors and Past Presidents, played their Team Rolls setting a Platform and Brilliantly executing each and every phase of the event, including the Unity Walk which lit up the room and transformed the place, into memories of the past and bringing history back to life. Headed by the Presidents of the two organizations, Mr. Niraj Agnihotri (UFICA) and Mrs Aparna Hande (FIAsc), the UNITY WALK, was definitely the Hallmark of the Event. It was evident that the Spirit of Republic India still prevails and subsists in our hearts. Baljinder Tahim, the Executive Vice President of FIA, brilliantly utilized his injured leg and crutches to portray the 'Amar Jawans' of Freedom Fight.

The ambience, the friendly welcoming and enthusiastic smiles of the members, the presentation of innocence and unconditional loving nature, truly depicted India and the Indians as the heritage and culture stands for. This Unity Walk truly presented, Unity and Strength among the organizations and displayed the necessity for all Indians to be united at all times and help each other in the community as we have done in the past during Freedom Fight.

There were special notes of approbation from our guests regarding the presentation of 'Glimpse of India' which truly described each state that participated, and a scenario of the gorgeous and distinctive costumes and culture of each state. We also received comments that their dance display of 30 seconds was excellent and definitely not enough and expected more.

The Unity Walk and some of the cultural items were choriographed by Varsha Parekh (Noopur Dance Academy), V.President (FIA). Others did their own choriography.

I must recognize other well known guests among who were also present, like Mr. Harbhajan Samra commonly known as the “OKRA KING”.

We again thank all those who supported us to make this a very successful Event.
