ILLINOIS STATE TREASURER HONORS PUNJABI CULTURAL SOCIETY OF CHICAGO
“PCS GRADUATION NIGHT 2013” ON JUNE 9th

Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago (PCS) was among several organizations honored by the Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford during an Asian American and Pacific Islander’s Heritage month celebration on May 29, 2013 at the James R. Thompson Center,  State of Illinois Building, Chicago. 

 The award on behalf of PCS was accepted by Balwinder Singh Girn past president of PCS Chicago.
 The Treasurer honored the organizations that help Asian Pacific Americans achieve their educational goals, particularly, higher educational goals through tutoring, mentoring, scholarships, etc. 

 The Punjabi Cultural Society (PCS) of Chicago has always encouraged and assisted students in reaching their educational goals.  PCS of Chicago organizes a "Graduation Night" banquet each year to honor Punjabi High School and College Graduates, and awards scholarships to a few selected high school graduate applicants who will be pursuing higher education so more Punjabi/Indian/Asian Americans can become valuable citizens to the community.

 PCS has been organizing “Graduation Night” and providing scholarships for nearly a decade. All of the community graduates every year are invited to a free dinner banquet, keynote speech, cake and a social party event.
This year the PCS Graduation Night is on Sunday June 9th. 2013, 5 pm – 9 pm at Viceroy of India Banquets, Lombard Illinois. Jaswinder Singh Sandhu Ph.D. a physicist, inventor and entrepreneur will be the key note speaker.

 Other Indian American organizations honored at the event were Indo-American Center of Chicago accepted by Executive Director Jay Luthra, Sunday School Hindu Temple of Grays Lake Illinois accepted by the School Coordinator Parina Mehrotra, Metropolitan Asian Family Services accepted by the Executive Director Mrs. Santosh Kumar.

The Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago is an all volunteer not-for-profit community service organization devoted to promoting Punjabi culture, language, performing arts, education, good citizenship, healthy life style, and sports in the metropolitan Chicago area and beyond.
