- May 03, 2011: Nina Grewal rode the wave to a Tory majority victory, winning her fourth straight term. At Now press time with 215 of 245 polls reporting, Grewal, MP for Fleetwood-Port Kells, had 21,032 votes, far ahead of her nearest rival NDP candidate Nao Fernando with 14,770 votes. Liberal contender Pam Dhanoa trailed with 6,894 votes

Nina Grewal was first elected to the House of
Commons in 2004. Ms. Grewal and her husband,
Gurmant, became the first spouses to simultaneously
hold elected seats in Parliament.
Ms. Grewal lived in Japan, India and Liberia
before immigrating to Canada with her family.
Along the way, Ms. Grewal earned a Bachelors
degree in history and English literature. In
Liberia, Ms. Grewal witnessed the atrocities
of war, an experience that left her with a deep
appreciation for freedom and democracy.
From the day Ms. Grewal arrived in Canada,
she contributed to improving Canadian society
