NRI Nishita Shah, 28, is the largest individual shareholder and
director of Precious Shipping, Thailand's biggest dry-bulk shipper
with a net worth of $350 million. Her father, Kirit, founded the
group in 1989 and took it public 1993. Her family emigrated from
India to Burma to Thailand about 10-12 years ago.
Nishita Shah is the youngest girl to make the list of the twenty
richest Thais constantly seeking new business ventures. Forbes Magazine
valued her at $350 million, making her the 13th richest person in
Thailand. On the Forbes' list of next-generation billionaires, she
is the businesswoman from Thailand, along with golfer Tiger Woods
and Elon Musk, co-founder of online payment processor PayPal figure
Shah also owns a clothing company called Burn Baby and will soon
be launching her own fashion label "Nsha" on three continents
at the end of the 2008. Along with her mother- Anju, she is a supporter
and fundraiser for Breast Cancer and donated the center $160,000
for education, research and construction. She likes to support educational
costs through university for children who lost one or both parents
in 2004 tsunami.
Nishita is a licensed pilot and has a business degree from Boston
University. She said, her father always encouraged her to study
anything as long as it was business related.
Thailand is the world’s biggest rice exporter, but she became
rich by other means. According to local media, she once said, "Inspired
by even richer likes such as Warren Buffet and the Bill & Melinda
Gates Foundation?. I hope to be able to leave a considerable portion
of my wealth to the GP Foundation."
