Dr Bains Crowned
with Life Achievement Award in Canada

Mississauga: In a packed house of more than thousand guests,
political leaders and community celebrities at Woodbine Banquet
Hall, Rexdale, Ontario, Dr Raghbir Singh Bains a renowned drug
therapist, encyclopaedist and museologist was honoured with the
Lifetime Achievement Award-2007 by Parvasi Media Group for his
excellence and outstanding accomplishments in the service to the
global society. The award was presented by the highly decorated
retired IPS of Indian Police Dr Kiran Bedi, an Ramon Magsaysay
Awardee. Known artist Jarnail Singh from Surrey and Dr Kulbir
Singh Thind Punjabi Font Maker from USA were also honoured for
expertise and community service in their fields
Parvasi Awards were instituted in 2005 to honor the Punjabi Canadians
in recognition for their contribution to the Canadian society.
The nominees for awards are screened by a committee of reputed
and renowned Punjabi Canadians. Parvasi group of Media runs Punjabi
newspapers from Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal and Chandigarh.
In the series for service to the community, the media group is
also running a magazine and radio.
Dr Raghbir Singh Bains is a longtime social activist. He inherited
humility, love and sacrifice to humanity and devotion to Almighty
Lord from his mother. He championed the struggle creating awareness
on evils of drugs, rapes, prostitution and havoc of AIDS in Canada
and outside its borders. He is an active campaigner for world
peace and has traveled dozens of countries in the world to spread
the divine message. Multicultural communities have benefited from
the commitment, generosity and service to the community done by
Dr Raghbir Singh Bains.
Dr Bains is author of the Encyclopaedia of Sikhism, first of
its kind in the world on multimedia technology. He set up the
first of its kind robotic and LCD touch screen Multimedia Sikh
Museum at Khadur Sahib in India during 2004. He did not stop here
but opened the second Multimedia Sikh Museum at Jalandhar during
2008.
A living legend, Dr Bains, a septuagenarian has touched the heights
of life long achievements by dint of his honest labour, commitment
and hard work in life. He has earned good name and reputation
and accomplished more than most men of his time. He has been decorated
with prestigious awards for working with vulnerable youth on drugs,
rapes, prostitution, AIDS, environment and world peace. Dr Raghbir
Singh Bains has been honored with dozens of local, national and
international awards like: Order of British Columbia, Government
of B.C. Canada, Sikh Scholar of Computer Age (Sri Akal Takht Sahib
and SGPC) India, Order of Khalsa, Government of Punjab, India,
Good Citizen of Surrey Title, Local Government of Surrey, Canada,
Scholar of Sikh Literature Award UK, Queen II’s Golden Jubilee
Medal, Government of Canada, Sahitya Shiromani Award (Vashesh),
Government of Punjab, India, Community Service Award Kenya, Africa,
Panth Ratan Award, India, International Dasmesh Award, USA, Information
Technology Volunteer Award, India, Sewa Award USA, Wisdom of Age
Mentorship Award, Canada, Order of Nishan-e-Sikhi, India, Shan-e-Punjab
