II. TEACHING & ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE:
- Taught Economics at Punjabi University, Patiala (1965 to 1994). Have served as full-fledged Professor in Economics, Head of Department of Economics and Director, Correspondence Courses, Punjabi University, Patiala. Have also worked as Principal, Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Sultanpur Lodhi, Distt. Kapurthala. Have also taught economics at Sydney University, Australia.
Also a member of Governing Councils of Institutions related to School education and Higher education.
III. RESEACH EXPERIENCE:
Have guided 26 students for their M.Phil and Ph.D degrees in Economics.
Have participated in many national and international seminars, workshops and conferences related to economics, education, religion and women issues. Have also published research papers in various reputed journals.
Have been honoured by various bodies and institutions for making original research contribution
IV. POLITICAL EXPERIENCE;
- Have been and presently a Member of Political Affairs Committee and Working Committee of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal).
- Have participated actively in all the conferences and workshops as well as protest rallies organized by the Party – SAD (Badal).
- V. Have been Chairperson of Distt. Planning and Development Boards and Distt Grievances Committees of Patiala, Roopnagar, Bathinda, Moga and Nawanshahr districts. Presently Chairperson of Dist. Planning and Development Board and Distt. Grievances Committee of Sangrur district;

PUBLICATIONS:
Have produced two original books related to the subject of Economics
(i) DEVELOPMENT OF THEORY OF DEMAND:
FROM BERNOULLI TO MARSHALL
(ii) SIKH RELIGION AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The book is adjudged as a path-braking contribution. It brings out the role of non-economic factors, especially religion in economic development. It undertakes study of Sikhism from three aspects: scriptural value system, institutional framework and operational value system and brings out their implications for economic growth. It concludes that Sikhism paves way for economic development.
(iii) HAVE AUTHORED FIVE BOOKS IN ECONOMICS UNDER THE MEDIUM SWITCH OVER SCHEME.
DEVELOPMENT OF SULTANPUR CONSTITUENCY:
Have been working for the upliftment of the weaker sections and overall development of the constituency. Got constructed S. Atma Singh two Advance Dhussi Bandhs (No.1 & No. 2) for the protection of flood-ravaged constituency. Also two Urban Estates at Sultanpur Lodhi and Kapurthala Towns. Major contribution made in the form of roads, bridges, upgradation of schools, civil and veterinary hospitals. Also got formed Sultanpur Lodhi Development Board to initiate overall development of Sultanpur Lodhi – a holy and historic town.
AWARDS :
- Has been awarded ‘Dr.Ganda Singh Memorial Award’ for original research paper “The Place and Status of Women in Sikh Society”.
- Have been conferred the title of ‘Daughter of Punjab’ by literary bodies and social organizations at Ludhiana in 2008 for contribution in initiating measures for development of Punjabi Language, Literature and Culture.
- Have played major role in piloting and getting enacted two legislations in Punjab Vidhan Sabha, namely, “The Punjab Official Language (Amendment) Act 2008” and “The Learning of Punjabi and Other Languages, Punjab Act 2008”.
- Have also been conferred the “Punjab Ratan” award by literary bodies at Ludhiana in 2009 for ensuring proper implementation of Punjabi Language in Punjab and initiating measures for granting 2nd language status to Punjabi in the U.T Chandigarh and neighbouring states.
FIELDS OF INTEREST: Reading Punjabi Poetry, Listening to Good Music and Gardening.
TRAVELS/COUNTRIES VISITED: Most of the countries of South East Asia and Pacific Region. Also visited many countries of Western Europe and Pakistan as a member of Punjab Legislative Delegation. Have been to North America and Canada as well.
