NRI FIR Reviews – Another Badal Promise Broken

Jassi Khangura, MLA
Ludhiana, Nov 8, 2011

Jassi Khangura, MLA for Qila Raipur today noted that in the almost four years after the much lauded NRI Samellan in January 2008, most of the commitments made had been broken.

Khangura slammed the Chief Minister for breaking the promise to have all FIRs which have been lodged against NRIs reviewed by an officer of at least SP ranking within 7 days of being lodged.

Whilst noting that the sentiment behind the promise was sound, and necessary, Khangura said “sadly, as with many other promised made by this Government, it was forgotten about as soon as it had been spoken.”

Lamenting the fact that NRIs face problems with travel to and from India and harassment due to these FIRs Khangura said “it is only fair to anyone, including NRIs that if an FIR is lodged it be validated.  There are too many people willing to put false cases for personal gain and this practice must be curtailed.”

After the registration of false FIRs against NRIs, there follows an expeditious sequence of events culminating in the NRI being declared a Proclaimed Offender.  Many NRIs who have actually been declared as Proclaimed Offenders are unaware of the fact and do not return to India for fear of being either arrested at the airport or by the Punjab Police in Punjab.

The MLA said that he had absolutely no complaint about the suggested proposal for review of NRI cases by a senior police officer within the 7 day time given, and said that especially in the light of the current Right to Service it would have been particularly commendable.  He said that his only problem was the fact that it was just another example of something that could have been really helpful to many people never seeing the light of day.

Khangura, a renowned user of the social network Facebook, said that he had many people agree with his sentiment on this and said it was a shame the Badals had once again missed an opportunity to show a better side

Talking to media persons after reviewing the arrangements for inauguration of Fateh Minar, a monument marking the historical victory of Sirhind by Banda Singh Bahadur, Mr. Badal said that Khalsa Heritage Complex was a historic museum to educate the younger generations about the richness of Khalsa Panth and we wanted to give this privilege to first Sikh Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh, so that we could perpetuate Prime Minister’s name for coming generation.           When asked about corruption charges being leveled on SAD-BJP Government by PPCC President, Mr. Badal said that Captain Amarinder Singh should face the mirror in the morning and would find that his face was tattooed with ‘City Center Scam, Amritsar Improvement Trust Scam, Intranet Scam’ involving Rs 3000 to Rs 4000 crore and Captain was visiting the courts daily awaiting his sureshot conviction. On the other hand, Captain accused Badal family of amassing Rs 3500 crore, but could file a charge sheet of Rs 78 crores that could stand the test of legal scrutiny, he added. Shiromani Akali Dal
MANPREET SINGH BADAL BETRAYED PUNJAB BY COMMITTING CONSTRUCTION OF SYL CANAL : SAD

(Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema)Secretary and Spokesman

Chandigarh, November 8:--

The Shiromani Akali Dal lashed out at the newly formed third front for including construction of SYL canal in its common minimum programme. By doing so the PPP President Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal, Shiromani Akali Dal (Longowal) leader Mr. Surjit Singh Barnala and other leaders of the morcha have betrayed Punjab. This was stated by the SAD Secretary and Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema in a statement issued to the press from the party head office in Chandigarh today.

Dr Cheema said that it is painful to see that newly formed third front has mentioned in it CMP that the important issue of river waters dispute will be resolved as per the Rajiv Longowal accord. He said that a perusal of the Rajiv Longowal accord reveals that Construction of SYL canal is the main and only clause which the Congress party wanted to implement at any cost but could not do because of strong opposition of SAD. But now it is shocking to know that the so called new front has committed this in its CMP.

Dr. Cheema further said that Rajiv -Longowal accord has already been rejected by all the Punjabis long back being against the interests of Punjab. In addition, the Punjab Legislative Assembly has unanimously passed the termination of agreements act-2004 to cancel all previous water agreements. Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal is also one of the signatory to this act. But now by signing this CMP with the left parties and Longowal Dal, Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal has stabbed the mother state in the back, simply to become a candidate of Chief Ministership of the front. Apart from this by doing so Mr. Surjit Singh Barnala has also been able to carry on his age old anti-Punjab and anti-panthic agenda.

Dr. Cheema said that river waters are the lifeline of the state and people of the state will never forgive third front leaders for this grave sin and they will have to explain their destructive stand to the people of the state in the coming assembly polls. The people of the state will teach them a lesson.

BADAL TERMS SANJHA MORCHA AS “B” TEAM OF THE CONGRESS
CONGRESS LEADERSHIP OF STATE SHOULD ASK THEIR HIGH COMMAND
TO STOP THE
COERCION OF THE COMMON MAN- CM
BADAL INAUGURATES THE MODERN JAIL CONSTRUCTED AT FARIDKOT
SANGAT DARSHAN HELD AT FARIDKOT

Faridkot, November 8

-Punjab Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal today said that the third front floated by defectors of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) was infact the “B” team of the Congress and its sole purpose was to ensure the defeat of SAD in coming assembly elections.

Addressing the gathering here during Sangat Darshan programme of the Faridkot assembly constituency, the Chief Minister came down heavily on the leaders of the third front, including former Punjab Chief Minister Mr Surjeet Singh Barnala and Former Punjab Finance minister Mr Manpreet Singh Badal. Training his guns against both these leaders Mr Badal reiterated that the sole aim of these “defectors” was to get their vested interests fulfilled that too at the cost of party, which was not acceptable. He said that both these leaders have been honoured time and again by the party by giving plum postings but these leaders stabbed their own party from back by joining hands with the Congress in clandestine manner.
Mr Badal termed the Sanjha Morcha, floated by Barnala and Mr Manpreet Singh Badal as a "pack of power starved opportunists" adding that the sole aim of these defectors is to grab power in the state by hook or crook. He exhorted the people to teach these people a lesson in the coming state assembly elections so that they could not be  successful in hatching out conspiracy against the Punjab. "Only you people can teach a lesson to them so that such anti Punjab forces are crushed and an era of tremendous development ushered during the present SAD-BJP regime can be continued” he added.
Making a scathing attack on the Congress leadership of the state the Chief minister said that though most of them including the former Chief Minister and State Congress President Captain Amarinder Singh are fond of using unparliamentary language against their political rivals but they hardly mince any word against the anti- people
policies of the Congress led UPA government at the centre. He said that it was ironical that though the people of state were heavily burdened due to the wrong policies of the Union government but these leaders have never bothered to raise such issues. “Rather than remaining a mute spectator to the gross injustice with people the entire Congress leadership should ask their high command to stop the coercion of the common man” he added.
Lashing out at the Congress led UPA government at the centre,  the Chief Minister further said that it has broken the back bone of the peasantry of Punjab by increasing the cost of agricultural inputs in an unprecedented manner. He said that it was irony of the fate that the government which had came into power in the name of the common man
has today became their biggest enemy. The Chief Minister said that 30% increase in the petroleum prices during the current regime of UPA speaks about the ideology of the government which claims to be votary of common man. Mr Badal said that the hike in fuel prices has not only

UNPARLIAMENTARY LANGUAGE USED BY CONGRESS LEADERS ENHANCES MY POPULARITY- BADAL

CM TERMS BARNALA AND MANPREET BADAL AS CHRONIC DEFECTORS

CM CONGRATULATE PEOPLE ON THE OCCASION OF EID

Malerkotla, November 7-
Punjab Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal
today said that he welcomes the usage of abusive language by former Punjab Chief Minister and State Congress President Captain Amarinder Singh against him because the cheap tactics adopted by Congress leadership enhances his popularity amongst the people.

Talking to the media persons after joining the prayer on the occasion of Eid Ul Zuha at local Eid Gah, Mr Badal said that though he had always been a votary of morality in political system but it was very unfortunate that in absence of any major issues against the SAD-BJP alliance the State Congress President had made it a habit of using the unparliamentarily language against him and his family. The Chief Minister said that in his long political carrier he had banked on raising the issues of the pubic importance rather than mud slinging on his political rivals however the frequent use of abusive language adopted by the Congress leadership clearly depicts the moral degradation in public arena. "I have always refrained from using such foul language against my political rivals due to which people had given a lot of love to me" he added.
Commenting on the ‘Punjab Bachao’ yatra launched by Captain Amarinder Singh, the Chief Minister said that in dearth of political issues the Congress leaders were absolutely disillusioned and were now resorting to such cheap tactics, which would not help them in any way in the
Coming polls. He said that people are very well aware of the dubious character of the Congress leadership and they would not get swayed with such tantrums and would certainly teach its candidates a lesson in coming assembly polls. "People are well aware of the fact that for four years the Congress leadership remain busy in their own activities and than waste the time of people by undertaking such yatras" he added.
Slamming the Congress led UPA government, Mr Badal said that it has totally failed to provide security to the people. He said that owing to the lapses in security of the borders on the one hand many precious lives were being lost in frequent bomb explosions across the country and on the other hand the Chinese intrusion in the territory of the country had posed serious question mark on sovereignty of the country.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the Union government has failed miserably on all the fronts and the people of the country in general and that of Punjab in particular are eagerly waiting to teach the Congress party a lesson.  "The coming elections for state assembly will prove that people were in the mood to show door to the Congress, due to its wrong policies" he added.
Terming former Punjab Chief Minister Mr Surjeet Singh Barnala and Former Punjab Finance Minister Mr Manpreet Singh Badal as "Chronic Defectors" the Chief Minister said that both these leaders have ditched their mother party for the sake of their vested interests. Mr. Badal said that notwithstanding SAD’s magnanimity to offer everything to Manpreet, the latter had joined hands with the Congress in a clandestine manner to tarnish the image of the SAD. He said that it was next to impossible to get the key portfolio of Finance as his first stint as the minister but the party chose him to be the Finance Minister but he betrayed by parting ways with SAD. The Chief Minister reiterated that any individual how mighty he may be was not above the party and none was in a position to make dent in the party.
Slamming the former Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Surjeet Singh Barnala, the Chief Minister said that it is ironical that through his long political career Mr. Barnala had enjoyed the fruits of power due to SAD only and now at the fag end of his career he was trying to cause damage to the party.  Mr. Badal however reiterated that the former governor of Tamil Nadu would not succeed in his nefarious designs as the people of the state are prudent to teach them a lesson and ultimately make these traitors of Punjab to lick the dust”.
Earlier addressing the gathering at the Eid Gah, Mr Badal congratulated the Mulsim Community on this auspicious occasion. He said that both the Muslim and Sikh Communities share a rich bond of traditions amongst themselves adding that both of them highly revere their martyrs who had laid down their life for the sake of religion.Mr Badal also said that they feel proud when they recall that the Sikh Gurus had asked a Muslim Saint Sain Mian Mir to lay down the foundation stone of Sri Harimandir Sahib, the most sacred place of sikhs. Mr Badal reiterated that the biggest achievement of their government has been that it has ensured communal harmony and peace in the state despite of the fact that all the other parts of the country are facing this severe problem. Chief Minister also said that despite of being a border state their government has assured that no untoward incident takes place in the state by ensuring proper law and order. He also announced that Rs 25 lakh would be spent on the construction of Muslim Community Centre at Eid Gah.
