The Supreme Court discharged a non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued by a Mumbai court against the gutka baron Rasiklal Manikchand Dhariwal in connection with his alleged nexus with the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

A Bench comprising Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justice B N Srikrishna discharged the NBW issued against Dhariwal saying he had cooperated with the CBI in the investigations of underworld nexus case.

In a special leave petition, Prakash Dhariwal, Mr. Dhariwal's son, had challenged a Bombay High Court order refusing to stay the NBW issued against his father by the Mumbai police On March 11, the court was assured that Mr. Dhariwal would visit India on April 4 and appear before the CBI since he was cited only as a witness. The court, therefore, asked the CBI not to execute the NBW.

Mr. Dhariwal, on April 4, had appeared before the CBI and had reportedly denied any links with the underworld saying that it was only allegations. CBI registered a case against Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Anees Ibrahim and three others on charges of extortion and smuggling machinery for setting up gutka factory in Karachi
