Annual Deepavali Cultural Program by Shri Lakshmi Narayan, Mandir, Riverside

Shri Lakshmi Narayan mandir Hindu Society of Inland Empire Riverside California celebrated Annual Deepavali cultural program on October 8th, 2011 Corona Civic Center auditorium in Corona California. The program started around 6pm with a social hour and with a brief introduction of Vice President Lakshman Koka’s speech. The program begin with a melodious voice “Baharoo Fool Barsao” song by Nishad Marathe.

On the Eve of Deepavali People from all religions forget their differences and get together to celebrate this vivacious festival of lights. Every home is decorated with illuminating Diyas and candles. The entrances are ornamented with flowers and rangolis to welcome Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity. People wear new clothes, exchange gifts and sweets with each other



Deepavali is considered auspicious for shopping, inaugurations of new homes, business deals or for starting any new ventures and projects. Deepavali reminds us of mouthwatering, delicious sweets such as Kheer, Barfi , Pedas, Rasgullas, laddues etc. On the whole this is a people-oriented festival when enmities are forgotten, families and friends meet, enjoy and establish a word of closeness.
MC’s was performed by Anika Patadia and Megan Verma who did a great job, speaks to the audience, and generally keeps the event moving.

There has been few prizes for the Raffle drawing which was arranged by Sumathi Shaker and Rita Mishra. Food,decorations, awards and all other program related items were arranged with the help of all these coordinators: Meena  Kumar, Rita Mishra, Lopa Patel. Rajeshwari Chakrapani,Archana Sheth, Suma Hareesh, Bharati Bandyopadhyay, Padma & Prabhakara and program Brochure Design by Vikki Truver & Bipin Patel. The Printing was compliments of HQ Printers. The entertainments of the program and mandir procession was organized by suma Hareesh.

The Hall was packed with all kind of people wearing different bright color outfits and more than 450 people attended the deepavali cultural program. Another interesting thing in the program was a mix of Hindi and Punjabi songs which is a great way to bring even more closer to different cultures together. City Council Member Paul Davis and his wife May Lynn Davis also attended this program and spoke few words about this Cultural program.

 There were few brief speeches from Board of Directors, Executive Committee members and Priests. At the very last, Bhoodev Tiwari,  President of Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir thanked the working committee members, Executive Committee members, all the sponsors, audience, and the priests who all has hard work to make this Deepavali Cultural Program successful. President also told the Audience that with all your support , we can make our community,our Mandir and our Culture strong.
