IALA celebrated their 14th Annual India's Republic Day

India Association of Los Angeles (IALA) celebrated their 14th Annual India's Republic Day Celebration on Saturday Feb 1st 2014 @ Venus Bqt Hall in Winnetka, CA. The Event was a huge success attend by over 300 people. Chief of Guest was Brad Sherman, though he was in DC, his Senior Policy Deputy John Alford attend on his behalf & presented Flag from Washington DC to the Association.

The Event started with National Anthem of US & India sang by the little girls from 5 to 10 Years old, followed by a Plethora of Indian Traditional Folk Dances by kids of various ages including as little as 4-5 years old.
The event was kicked of by a short speech by Founder & Past President Inder Singh (Chairman GOPIO) who gave a brief historical significance of India's Republic Day Event, he pointed out that Indian Americans have now established themselves among the mainstream Americans by getting elected to various political offices, & he sited various examples like Bobby Jindal, Nikki Randhawa, Dalip Singh Saund. He stressed for the need & duty to vote on the election day. Current President & Co-Founder Kumar Jawa Thanked entire community for an overwhelming response, show of strength & support, this is Kumar's second successful term as the President.
All the Board of Directors & Executive Members of IALA were introduced to a strong & emotionally charged audience. It's the selfless act & volunteer-ship of these active members of the Association that IALA is able to churn out for the last 14 Years India's Republic Day & Independence Day Mela which is attend by over 10,000 people. The strength of the Association was evident from the huge crowd that was already in the Banquet hall & those who were trying to get in, & not mention over 30 performers waiting to do their performances & be part of the celebration
The Indian Community displayed a strong show of support for the IALA & the event by turning out at a Sold-Out Event. The program was Emceed by Harish Amar a well known Emcee in San Fernando Valley.
The celebration had various Dance performances from quite a few Dancing Schools like; Katha Kala Kender of Rachana Upadhyay, Shriangari School of Dance, Electro-Battles School of Bollywood Dance, & Chhandam School of Kathak. Akshay Hari 2012 contender of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa a Zee Tv show lent his melodious Vocals to the evening.
