Hundreds of Indian Americans joined the protest march
against the terrorist bomb blast attacks on Mumbai on Saturday from
2 PM to 3:30 PM.The crowd assembled at about 1:30 PM near the Artesia
City Hall and proceeded to Pioneer Blvd. They marched from 187th
street to 183rd street and back. The march ended at the City hall
where everyone sang the Indian national Anthem before ending the
rally. This was the first time that all the Organizations of the
Indian Community of Southern California joined the peacE march.
Through peaceful march the community expressed shock at the dastardly
acts of terrorism in the financial and tourist hub of Mumbai On
November 26, 2008. The act of terrorism was against the civilian
population of both Indian and foreign nationalities. Everyone was
of the view that terrorism is a scourge on modern civilized society
and should be wiped out at its core from the face of the earth and
should be rejected outright by all segments of society. The Indian
economy, which has prospered as a result of globalization, is now
in jeopardy of reversal because of the negative image of India which
has emerged as a result of the recent events. Everyone extended
condolences to the families of the victims of the said terrorist
attacks and pays homage to members of the police force and the NSG
commandos who laid down their lives in the service of the country
The community in a way urged the Indian Government to ensure that
communal harmony is maintained within India and that the Indian
cities and streets should not become battle-fields, as envisaged
by the terrorists.
