NRI Neil Sahota Receives 2015 UC Irvine Alumni Achievement Awards

Featuring Neil Sahota, IBM Certified Consultant, Senior Project Manager and Remarkable Leader, received 2015 UC Irvine Alumni Achievement Awards on May 14, 2015.
Nearly 500 people attended the function, including UCI Chancellor Howard Gillman, UCI Faculty, past and present students. Neil’s parents Dr. Harvinder Sahota and Dr. Asha Sahota, friends and his godmother Davina from New York also attended the function.
“UC Irvine Alumni Achievement Award recognize alumni, students, and faculty for their service to the university and its alumni, for their achievements in the arts, humanities, sciences, technology, and business,” Gurdishpal Singh told NRIpress who attend the function.” Exemplary role models, they inspire all those who aspire to have an impact on both business and society.”
Neil is an active member of the UCI Alumni Association and serves on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Marathon, supporting their work with the OC Kids program in fighting childhood obesity.
Neil Sahota, a thought Consultant and Practice Leader in IBM Global Business Services, having over 15 years of experience in business, such as:
- Sales and delivery of complex consulting engagements spanning business strategy, new product development, revenue optimization, process improvement, and business and system integration.
- His experience spans multiple industries including healthcare, life sciences, retail, travel and transportation, energy and utilities, automotive, telecommunications, media/communication, and government
He is one of the few IBMers selected for IBM's Corporate Service Corps leadership program that pairs leaders with NGOs to perform community-driven economic development projects. For his assignment, Neil lived and worked in Ningbo, China where he partnered with Chinese corporate CEOs to create a leadership development program.
As an active volunteer, he also developed IBM’s Academic Initiative program that creates partnership opportunities between the IBM and the country’s top universities. He also served as a business mentor for IBM’s Extreme Blue program that is an incubator for new product ideas.
In addition, Neil partners with entrepreneurs to define their products, establish their target markets, and structure their companies. He is a member of the Tech Coast Angels and assists start ups with investor funding. Neil also serves as a judge in the Butterworth Product Competition, mentor in the K5 Launch accelerator program, and coach for various start up competitions.
Neil actively volunteers his time to help nonprofits and foundations with event management, fund raising, grant reviews, and site visits.
In March, 2015, Neil started as an Adjunct Professor at the Paul Merage School of Business, University of California (UC), Irvine, California where he develop course curriculum and teach MBA candidates. He also bring real world experience, ability to apply concepts in a hands-on manner for student and support new focal area development.
