FOURTEEN-time winner of the Zambia International Rally,
Satwant 'Mukango' Singh favours his nephew Muna to win this weekend's
event.
Satwant in an interview yesterday said that Muna was
currently in top form and had recently acquired a new and faster car.
"Muna is good, he is getting better and his sight
is sharp. He also has a very good understanding with his navigator David
Sihoka, the sort of understanding that I had with my former navigator
Surinder Thatthi," Satwant said.
He added that he would prefer Muna took over as the
leading rally driver in Zambia as this would ensure that the Singh name
remained in motor sport.
Previously known as the 'Flying Sikh', Satwant said
his fans should expect him to finish the rally among the top three.
"I have never ended anywhere below the third position
ever since my first competitive rally in 1969," said the motor
sport veteran.
This will be the second consecutive year Satwant will
participate in the Zambia International Rally after a three-year absence
from the local national events.
Satwant abruptly 'quit' the local championships following
the cancellation of two rallies that were adding to the 2000 national
championship.
Satwant also said a Subaru mechanic specialist had been
flown in from South Africa to work on his vehicle for this weekend's
event
