THIRD ANNUAL FREE
ANAHEIM HEALTH FAIR AGAIN SUCCEEDS IN ENCOURAGING HEALTHY LIVING
AND ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE SERVICES THANKS TO ONGOING COLLABORATIVE
PARTNERSHIPS AND SPONSORS
Anaheim, CA, June 08, 2009
When the idea of bringing a free health fair to Anaheim was
proposed to City Councilman Harry Sidhu by Pravin Mody of GBS
Linens and Dr. Nitin Shah in association with Anekant Community
Center, the foundation was laid for what has now become a meaningful,
annual city event. For the third year in a row, the City of Anaheim
has continued its efforts to encourage healthy living through
a meaningful collaboration with supporting partners and sponsors
by hosting the Third Annual Free Anaheim Health Fair on Sunday,
June 7, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Brookhurst Community
Center.
Among the special invited guests attending the Third Annual Free
Anaheim Health Fair were Dr. Ralph Clayman, Dean, School of Medicine,
UCI Medical Center, and Dr. Sandor Szabo, Chief of Staff, Long
Beach Veterans Administration Healthcare System.
“Services were provided to nearly 400 individuals,”
stated Councilman Harry Sidhu, and “special thanks
must be given to the many individuals, organizations, and sponsors
who joined together to make the Third Annual Free Anaheim Health
Fair such a wonderfully successful community event including,
but not limited to: Anaheim City Council Member Harry Sidhu, with
leadership support from Mayor Curt Pringle; Dr. Nitin Shah, Anekant
Community Center, and the over 70 Indo-American doctors who donated
their medical services; Pravin Mody of GBS Linens; The City of
Anaheim and all of its dedicated, hardworking staff, especially,
those in the Community Services Department, City Manager’s
Office – External Affairs Division, Office of the Mayor
and City Council staff members, and Anaheim Public Utilities Department;
The Anaheim Chamber of Commerce staff and board members; Freeman
Company; The Clubhouse at Anaheim Hills; The Disneyland Resort;
CARE Ambulance; Gardenwalk Hotel One, LLC; Anaheim Disposal; Sally
Ann Catering; Northgate Market; and Bagel Me.”
“And, we are especially grateful to the over 100 volunteers
who assisted in the event – many from the Cerritos College
‘Project Hope’ group, who donated their time and efforts
in the true spirit of community service,” said Councilman
Sidhu.
“How honored we are in the City of Anaheim to be hosting
this important event for the third year in a row,” explained
Councilman Sidhu. “In collaboration with our many wonderful
partners and sponsors, we are encouraging good health and healthy
living by providing free health services and offering everyone
a chance to achieve the highest quality of life. It has been said
that ‘the greatest wealth is good health,’ and what
a special day this was for the health and well-being of our community.”
