Satwinder Kaur – A Dedicated Public Servant and Community Champion

Satwinder Kaur has secured another term in Kent, Washington, City Council, continuing her service in Position 2. Kaur — who has been a council member since 2017 — was re-elected amidst strong community and bipartisan support.

A lifelong Kent resident, Kaur brings deep roots in the community and a track record of public service. She previously worked within the city government as an executive assistant before entering electoral politics.

With professional experience in information technology and a strong educational foundation (including an MBA from UW), she positions herself as both a technical and civic leader.

On the council, Kaur has championed public safety and infrastructure. Under her influence, Kent expanded its police force significantly and invested in community policing programs.

She has also helped secure over $70 million for citywide improvements, ranging from roads and sidewalks to new parks that enhance neighborhood livability.

In early 2024, the council unanimously elected Kaur as Council President, a role in which she serves as the lead spokesperson and works closely with the mayor to guide legislative priorities.
