Marsha Singh was elected as MP in
British Parliament 2005 election. He was first
elected as MP for Bradford West in 1997 and has
been a member of the Commons home affairs select
committee since 1997.
Marsha Singh was born October 11,
1954 and was educated at Belle Vue; Loughborough
University (BA Hons Languages, Politics and Economics
of Modern Europe):
He was the winner of only two seats in the country
where there was a swing from Labour to the Conservatives,
though not enough for the party to lose the seat.
He is on the left of the party and takes the scrutiny
aspect of Parliament's responsibilities very seriously,
sometimes questioning ministers critically.
He has also joined occasional rebellions against
the government, usually on questions of welfare
and benefits. He introduced a private members'
bill - Community Care (Residential Accommodation).
