NRI Sakina Bradbury, a Lib-Dem councillor-
defect to the Conservative Party

NRI Sakina Bradbury, Liberal Democrat Councillor has
joined the third Liberal Democrat to defect to the Conservative
Party in the last four months.The other two, Sajjad Karim and Faraz
Bhatti joined the party in November, 2007 and January, 2008 respectively.
Sakina has been a Liberal Democrat councillor for
Whyteleafe ward on Tandridge District Council since 2002
Party Chairman of Conservatives, Caroline Spelman
said, "I am delighted to welcome Sakina to the Conservative
Party." She praised David Cameron, describing his election
as leader as "a major advance in the political development
of the Conservative Party."
Sakina said, "In recent years I have become increasingly
impressed by the way the Conservative administration of Tandridge
District Council has been balancing the needs of local residents
with the enormous pressures caused by the failure of the Labour
government to meet the real requirements of local government funding,"
Elections to Tandridge Council were held on May 02, 2002. One third
of the council was up for election and the Conservative party kept
overall control of the council

IT WAS a triumphant night for the Tories in Tandridge as they tightened
their hold on the district council.
They gained two councillors to increase their majority to 16 on
the district council as the votes were counted in Oxted School last
Thursday night.
The Liberal Democrats lost one seat reducing them to 10, while
Labour remained on two seats. The overall voter turnout was 45.4%,
up from 41.56% at the last local election in 2002.
