Sanjeev Gupta’s GFG Alliance is facing a major financial crisis in mid-2026, with several key assets in the United Kingdom and Australia under heavy financial stress or administration.

The troubles stem largely from the 2021 collapse of Greensill Capital , which had been a major source of financing for Gupta’s industrial empire. Since then, GFG Alliance has struggled with debt, operational disruptions, and increasing scrutiny from creditors and regulators.

Several steel and manufacturing operations linked to the group have reportedly faced uncertainty over funding, jobs, and long-term sustainability.
