NRI Dr. Vinod Menon, a UK-based Consultant Surgeon, has been awarded Honorary Life Membership by the Obesity Surgery Society of India (OSSI) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to leadership, teaching, training, and advancing care for patients with severe and complex obesity.
The prestigious honor was presented by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar at the IFSO-APC & OSSI Congress 2025, held at the Jio Convention Centre in Mumbai from February 20-22, 2025.
Dr. Menon, a highly regarded laparoscopic upper gastrointestinal, obesity, and cancer surgeon, practices in Coventry, Warwickshire, and Leamington Spa. He made history as the first non-white individual to hold the positions of Treasurer, Secretary, and President of the British Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS).
During his tenure as BOMSS President, Dr. Menon spearheaded a collaboration between BOMSS and OSSI, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, guidelines, and research, along with overseas fellowships for medical trainees between the UK and India.
This distinguished recognition highlights Dr. Menon’s dedication to transforming obesity care and fostering international medical partnerships. His work continues to inspire advancements in obesity treatment and prevention, leaving a lasting impact on the global healthcare community.
