Name_First: M.V.N.RAJ LAST: RAJ City, Country: Bangalore-India EMAIL: nahusha@sancharnet.in Telephone: 91-80-22719516 Name of this Article: The Bangalore Kidney Foundation-Serving The Poor Add your (cut & paste) opinions/ comments/: The Bangalore Kidney Foundation was established in 1979 as a charitable institution.The Foundation is being managed by non-medical professionals devoted to the cause of serving the poor and the economically backward.The Foundation has many firsts to it's credit.It was instrumental in bringing Legislation on Organ Transplant.The Foundation has a State-of-the Art Center in Bangalore providing affordable treatment on kidney ailments to the poor.The Foundation has introduced a novel program where ONE FREE DIALYSIS A DAY is administered at three centers in Bangalore.The Foundation not only donates Dialysis machines to such hospitals acting as Free Dialysis centers,but also finances dialysis treatment. These and other noble services like the building of a Kidney Patients Home in Bangalore are worth knowing especially for the NRIs living overseas.The Kidney Patients Home will provide accomodation to the attenders/relatives of kidney patients.At present,such stay expenses has been ruining several families of kidney patients.The stay will be free.The Sringeri Mutt has kindly donated free land in Bangalore in it's Mutt premises for this Home.Also coming up at this site is a 100 beds Speciality Centre where dialysis will be available for the poor.It must be informed that the Bangalore Kidney Foundation has been able to get generous support from some overseas hospital.We have recently received as a Gift-14 Dialysis Machines from USA.These machines are slightly used but could provide the much needed boost to our programme. All these programmes would not have been possible but for the generous support we have been getting from the corporate houses individuals,etc..We would like to appeal to the NRIs to chip in generously in kind and in cheques,cash,etc...The Foundation has all the clearances like FCNR,80G,etc......
