NRI Kamalpreet Singh, 33, Kapurthala’s Joins Royal Australian Air Force as Flying Officer

NRI Kamalpreet Singh, 33, originally from Kapurthala, Punjab, has been commissioned as a Flying Officer (Aeronautical Engineer) in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), marking a proud moment for the Indian diaspora.
Singh completed his early education at Kendriya Vidyalaya and Army Public School in Kapurthala and earned his B.Tech from DAVIET, Jalandhar. He began his career at the Goindwal Sahib thermal power plant before moving to Australia in 2017 on a work permit.
After obtaining permanent residency and citizenship by 2023, Singh successfully completed the Initial Officers Course at the Officer Training School in Sale, Victoria. His recent commissioning has been celebrated both in Australia and his hometown.
Coming from a family with a strong tradition of public service—his father Sewa Singh is a retired Army personnel and his elder brother serves in the NSW Police—Kamalpreet expressed pride in continuing the legacy:
“This commission continues the proud tradition of military service in our family. I am honoured to serve and contribute to the safety and security of my adopted country.”
His achievement is seen as an inspiration to the global Indian community, especially in defence and aerospace sectors.
