The guest list to the White House banquet held
in honour of visiting Indian Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh last night reads like a who's
who of the large Indian American community here.
Prominent among those present at the banquet
included the lone NRI, Indian American Congressman
Bobby Jindal (R-Louisiana) and NRI Dr Rajwant
Singh of the Sikh Council on Religion and Education
(SCORE) -- who was the only one representing
the Sikh community in the US - and NRI Ms Sunita
Lyn Willians, the NASA astronaut mission specialist.
Some prominent Congressmen, Senators and top
Bush administration officials besides members
of the Indian delegation were also invited.
Among the leading industrialists from India
were Ratan Tata, Chairman Tata Sons, Mukesh
Ambani, Group Chairman, Reliance Industries
and Nandan Nilekani, President and CEO, Infosys
Technologies, all of whom constitute the newly-formed
CEO Forum to promote business and economic relations
between India and the US.
