NRI Rajinder Kalia,68, head priest of a Coventry temple, is embroiled in a legal battle over allegations of sexual assault and financial exploitation. Four women have accused Kalia of sexually abusing them, with three others alleging financial misconduct within the temple community.

According to court documents, one victim claims to have endured more than 1,320 instances of sexual abuse over two decades, while another recounts childhood abuse that affected her academic performance. A third alleges her virginity was taken in a rape in a Birmingham hotel, and the fourth describes inappropriate physical advances starting from a young age.

In response, Kalia denies all allegations, dismissing them as part of a conspiracy to extort money from him. He portrays himself as a spiritual leader capable of miracles, including setting fire to water and producing blood from a lemon, according to statements made in court.

The temple, associated with the Sidh Baba Balak Nath Ji Society of Coventry, follows Hindu principles and has served as a spiritual refuge for many. However, one accuser likened Kalia to a manipulative puppeteer who controlled his followers.
Kalia, who moved to the UK from India in 1983, began preaching shortly thereafter, citing miraculous experiences in his youth as a testament to his calling. His defense team argues that the allegations are unfounded and part of a coordinated effort to defame him.

Supporters of Kalia maintain that temple attendees engaged willingly and derived spiritual benefit from their involvement. They dispute claims of coercion or misconduct within the community, emphasizing the freedom of individuals to participate in temple activities as they choose.

The unfolding legal proceedings underscore serious allegations of abuse within a religious organization, prompting scrutiny of leadership accountability and trust within the community.

He allegedly indoctrinated his devotees to believe he was 'an incarnation of God and or the divine' and to see him as 'all-powerful, all seeing and all-knowing'.

He is also accused of instructing his followers to launch an 'onslaught of harassment' against any members of the temple who spoke out against him. The four women seeking damages from Kalia are no longer members of the Coventry temple.......Read More
