NRI Arvinder “Arvi” Singh Bahal, 80, adventurer and real estate investor, has joined the elite as a civilian space traveler aboard Blue Origin’s NS-34 mission—the 34th flight in the New Shepard program. Launching from Blue Origin’s private spaceport in West Texas on August 3, the suborbital flight offered Bahal and five international passengers several minutes of weightlessness and Earth views from over 100 km above sea level

NRI Arvinder “Arvi” Singh Bahal was born on October 13, 1945, in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, near the Taj Mahal. A devout Sikh and spirited traveler, he briefly attended India’s National Defense Academy in the early 1960s but left due to an injury.

• He spent several years working on a tea plantation in Darjeeling before entering the textile manufacturing business in Delhi around 1970.
• In 1975, Bahal immigrated to the United States with just $108, eventually becoming a naturalized citizen by the late 1970s.
• He founded Bahal Properties in Beverly, Massachusetts, and built his fortune through ventures in real estate, fashion, and hospitality
• Has visited all 196 countries and all seven continents, including both the North and South Poles.
• Skydived over Mount Everest and the Pyramids of Giza, reflecting his passion for daring travel.
• Holds both private pilot and helicopter licenses, embracing aviation alongside global exploration.
