Acting NASA Administrator Sean P. Duffy has appointed Amit Kshatriya as the agency’s new associate administrator, the top civil service role at NASA.
Two Decades of Service to NASA
Kshatriya, a 20-year NASA veteran, previously served as deputy leader of the Moon to Mars Program within the Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters. In this capacity, he managed mission planning and implementation for the Artemis program, which is preparing for crewed journeys to the Moon and ultimately to Mars.
                Artemis at the Forefront
His promotion places the Artemis campaign at the heart of NASA’s mission. The appointment highlights the commitment of President Donald J. Trump and Administrator Duffy to return U.S. astronauts to the Moon ahead of international rivals.
“Amit has been a tireless public servant whose career has strengthened America’s leadership in space,” Duffy said. “With his experience and vision, NASA will take bold steps to return to the Moon during President Trump’s term.”
                Boosting America’s Space Economy
The move also underscores the Trump administration’s recognition of the commercial space industry as a vital part of America’s future. With Kshatriya in this key leadership role, NASA is expected to deepen partnerships with private companies, expand the space economy, and ensure future exploration is built on U.S. soil.
                Distinguished Background
Born in Wisconsin, Kshatriya studied at the California Institute of Technology and the University of Texas at Austin. He is also among a select group of about 100 people to have served as a mission control flight director, bringing exceptional operational and strategic expertise to NASA’s executive leadership.
