NRI Surinder Kumar, 55, a clerk at a 7-Eleven store
at 1208 Tennessee St. in Vallejo was shot to death early Friday.
He was suffering from gunshot wounds and was found by a customer
around 1:58 a.m. bleeding on the floor behind the counter.
Vallejo police Lt. Jim O'Connell said he believe
the motive might be robbery because money was missing. Kumar was
taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Vallejo where he was
pronounced dead shortly after arriving. He had been shot twice-
once in the leg and a fatal wound to the left side of his chest.

The Deputy Adrian Garcia said the autopsy did not
reveal how much time passed between when Kumar was shot and when
the customer found him and notified police.
Sgt. Vic Massenkoff said, Kumar had been working
the graveyard shift at the 7-Eleven store for about six years.
Margaret Chabris, a spokeswoman for 7-Eleven said, Kumar was a
good employee and well liked in the community.
From Ludhiana, Punjab, Surinder Kumar immigrated
to US in 2000 along with his family. He is survived by his wife,
                daughter and son.
