Phil Murphy , New Jersey Gov. has asked the Indian government to help extradite Nazeer Hameed, who was recently charged in the 2017 killings of Sasikala Narra and her 6-year-old son, Anish, in Maple Shade.
Murphy contacted India’s U.S. ambassador, Vinay Kwatra, citing the 1997 Extradition Treaty and emphasizing the strong cooperation between both countries in delivering justice. He said investigators have spent eight years pursuing every lead in the “heinous” case and thanked India for its prompt attention.
The FBI is offering up to $50,000 for information leading to Hameed’s arrest. Burlington County prosecutors say DNA evidence recovered from Hameed’s company-issued laptop tied him to the crime scene. Hameed, who was working in the U.S. on a visa at the time, returned to India shortly after the murders and has remained there since, authorities said.
