The UK government has introduced Ronan’s Law, imposing stricter regulations on online knife sales to curb knife crime. Named after 16-year-old Ronan Kanda, who was fatally stabbed in a case of mistaken identity in 2022, the law aims to close dangerous loopholes in online sales.

Under the new rules, retailers must report suspicious and bulk knife purchases to the police, and tougher penalties will apply for selling knives to under-18s.

Ronan’s mother, Pooja Kanda, has been advocating for stricter controls after it was revealed that her son’s teenage killers illegally purchased over 20 knives online without proper age verification. “I wish this law had been in place earlier—my son would still be here today,” she said.

The government hopes Ronan’s Law will hold retailers accountable and prevent further tragedies, making UK communities safer.
