NRI Gurvinder Singh Johal, Restaurateur, Fatally Stabbed in UK Bank

NRI Gurvinder Singh Johal, 37, restaurateur, Derby, UK was tragically stabbed to death inside a Lloyds Bank branch on St Peter’s Street in Derby on the afternoon of May 6. Despite emergency services, including an air ambulance, Johal was pronounced dead at the scene.
Johal, owner of Hen and Chickens Bar and Grill in Shelton Lock, had reportedly gone to the bank to deposit weekend earnings from his restaurant. He had recently returned from a family trip to India with his wife and three children.
Haybe Cabdiraxmaan Nur, 47, of Somali origin, has been charged with Johal's murder and appeared before Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court via video-link on May 9. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Derby Crown Court for further proceedings.
A second man arrested in connection with the incident has been released without charge. Authorities have urged the public to respect the judicial process and Johal’s grieving family during this difficult time.
