Four accused in
NRI doctors murder case chargesheeted

The Mumbai police have finally chargesheeted the
four arrested in NRI obstetrician Asha Goels
murder case. It took cops more than two years to frame
the chargesheet filed on December 28, 2005.
The murder had taken place inside a Malabar Hill apartment
on August 23, 2003.
The chargesheet (a copy of which is with the DNA)
shows Pradeep Prabhakar Parab as the main culprit.
Parab, along with two other co-accused, entered the
flat of Suresh Agarwal, Asha Goels brother,
making their way through another adjoining flat belonging
to Subhash Agarwal (also a brother of the doctor),
the chargesheet said.
Parab then hit the doctor on her head with a piece
of granite, it said.
The chargesheet said that Pawankumar Satyanarayan
Goenka, another accused, was one of the main conspirators
in the murder. He had the keys of Subhash Agarwals
flat.
After the murder, he locked Agarwals flat and
dropped Parab at Surti Hotel, it said.
The chargesheet named Manohar Mahadev Shinde as another
conspirator. It said Shinde, who had attended the
meeting convened by Goenka at the Little Lodge to
discuss the murder plan, assaulted the
doctor with the kitchen knife.
Narendra Ghanshyamdas Goel, another accused, picked
the three from Surti Hotel and dropped them at Sudhakar
Building where Asha Goel was staying that night,
in his Santro, the charge-sheet said.
The case which was initially registered with the
Malabar Hill police station and was later handed over
to the Crime Branch. The chargesheet made a clear
mention of the investigating agencys suspicion
about Subhash Agarwals involvement
in the murder. Investigations also revealed
that Subhash a Canada based businessmanpaid
a sum of Rs 21 lakh to Anand Agarwal on September
19, 2003.
