NRI files case against two for cheating

Jaipur, March 5, 2011: A Netherlands-based NRI has lodged a case against two residents of Jaipur for duping him of Rs.10 million after promising to organise a concert featuring prominent singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, police said Saturday.

"The duo had allegedly taken the money from Udai Singh for organising concerts of celebrated singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle in the Netherlands," investigation officer Ganga Singh told IANS.

Police said that the two accused, Ravi Jain and Rakhi Jain, who are residents of Jaipur's Model town area, organise religious and other music concerts in the country as well as abroad.

"The two had gone for a concert in the Netherlands when they came in contact with Udai Singh. Ravi and Rakhi promised him that they would organise for him a concert with the two famous singers. For this, Singh paid them about Rs.10 million," said Ganga Singh.

The concert was to be organised last year, he added.

"Singh says that the two kept postponing the concert date and then stopped responding to his calls. Thereafter, he came to Jaipur and registered the FIR," said the officer. He added that they are yet to question the two accused.....ians/NRIpress
