NRI California Sikh, admits shooting daughter-in-law as ‘honor killing’

Bakersfield, California Resident Jagjit Singh was arrested for allegedly shooting his daughter-in-law to death on Monday, dated August 26, 2019.
Jagjit Singh, 65, Kooner’s father-in-law opened the door for fire personnel and told them, “I shoot her.”
According to the court: “A revolver covered in blood was found on a nearby table, and daughter-in-law, Sumandeep Kaur Kooner’s was located on the living room couch.”
Jagjit Singh told police:
- The shooting as "an honor killing," and said Sumandeep Kaur Koomer was having an affair and planned to leave the family.
- She had “threatened to sully his honor by calling the police and claiming he attempted to sexually assault her
- he was "solely responsible for the murder" and said no one else was involved in the shooting.
On Wednesday, he was arraigned, his bond has been set at $1 million and his next date in court is October 2, 2019.
