The picturesque setting of Linn of Tummel in Blair Atholl, Perthshire, turned into a scene of horror as two young men, identified as Jitendranath ‘Jitu’ Karuturi, 26, and Chanhakya Bolisetti, 22, tragically lost their lives in a devastating accident. It is believed that the pair, both hailing from India and enrolled in master’s programs in data science and engineering at Dundee University, were attempting to take a photograph when they fell into the water on Wednesday, April 17.

Jitu, known for his gentle demeanor and reliability, had previously pursued studies at the University of Hartford in Connecticut, USA. He was a valued member of the team at Taza Indian buffet restaurant in Dundee, where his absence is deeply felt by colleagues and patrons alike. His manager, Vaseem Salimi, fondly remembers Jitu as a dedicated and amiable individual who left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Plans for a tribute to honor his memory are underway at the restaurant, reflecting the profound impact of his loss on the community.

Similarly, Chanhakya, a recent graduate of JNTUH College of Engineering Hyderabad, was cherished by those who knew him. His sudden passing has left his loved ones grappling with shock and grief.

In response to this heartbreaking incident, Dundee University has offered its heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the deceased, emphasizing their commitment to providing support during this difficult time. Meanwhile, authorities are conducting investigations to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, with initial assessments suggesting no foul play.

The loss of Jitu and Chanhakya has sent shockwaves through both the university and local communities, serving as a stark reminder of life's fragility. As tributes pour in and efforts to understand the events leading to the accident continue, the enduring memory of these two bright young men will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing them.
