A Beautiful Morning!

Feb 11, 2011

I woke up early to call my son in a different state and a different time zone. He needed motivation to wake up early and workout before going to the office. I am always for good health so getting up early to help him get started on a healthy note was not a problem. Once up, and knowing that my son is up was enough motivation for me to start my day on a healthy note too.

I am in at this new place overlooking the ocean but never get up early enough to walk with the sunrise. So, today I decided to fight the urge to get back under the sheets and sleep for another half hour, and you know how that usually turns out: by the time I actually wake up again, it is too late.

Today, I got up, made myself a cup of tea and sat with my book of Vedanta Treatise. It was still dark out, but I could feel the light of the dawn before the morning and could hear the sound of the ocean at a distance. It was so soothing! I read about the life messages and introspection for about an hour with my cup of ginger tea. Then for about fifteen minutes I closed my eyes and tried to meditate. Most of the time my mind was wandering with thoughts about my children, things I have done and chores I need to do. But, I think for a couple of minutes I was able to stay in the moment and quiet my mind. It was peaceful. I was peaceful!

Then with a sudden feeling of light, I opened my eyes and got up to go out and walk with the rising sun. I quickly changed to go out not forgetting some sunblock because I usually burn easily. As I was walking down to the beach, the sound of breaking waves was getting louder. I love that sound of the ocean. As I walked around the building and on to the beach, looking east, over the ocean the rising sun looked amazingly beautiful. I stood there and took pictures with my phone camera. I wanted to share this beautiful morning with my sons. So, I sent the pictures to both my boys by MMS. Thanks to the phone technology we were all enjoying the sunrise at the same time even if we were 2 hours and over 2000 miles away.
Then, I could not hold my excitement and started running towards the sun. It is beautiful watching the sun as it is coming up. The view is beautiful and changing constantly. So, I stopped a few times to try to capture the amazing and wonderful beauty of nature with my not so great phone camera. The photos could not do justice to the real thing that I was witnessing. When I had run far enough and could not go any more, I turned around and ran back. Still I stopped and took a few more pictures of the sun as it was shining over the beautiful ocean and city now. I was also amazed by the sand flying on the beach. No one else had walked on the quiet beach yet so I was really enjoying tracing the single trail left by my own feet just a little while ago.

I sent some more pictures to my sons and told them I wished they were here. We promised each other that we will wake up early and watch another sunrise together when they visit again.

I thanked my son for giving me a good reason to wake up early and enjoy this Beautiful Morning!!
