AIDS is a brutal disease. It has killed millions of people over
the globe. It is incurable. Prevention is better than cure and
is the only solution. After African countries, India is under
severe attack. To create awareness about this deadly disease,
a Red Ribbon Show created by NACO and PSACS was arranged in Sri
Guru Angad Dev College at Khadur Sahib. The Red Ribbon Bus has
been commissioned under the aegis of Pushpa Gujral Science city
Kapurthala headed by counselor Raghbir Singh Karlupia. The show
is about infection of HIV-AIDS. It educates the audience as how
to exercise prevention.
In addition to young students who are more vulnerable to AIDS,
the show was watched by social leaders, religious leaders and
community educators.
Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains, an expert educator on drugs and AIDS
from Canada, said in a statement that more than 45 million people
over this earth were suffering from AIDS. No body was bullet proof
to this plague. It was duty of the parents, teachers and especially
the government to create awareness about this deadly disease amongst
general public and the carriers of AIDS including transporters,
pimps, youth and flesh traders”. Dr Bains further said that
if people want to enjoy healthy and blooming life, they must change
their sexing and drugging behaviour. Seminars, interactive workshops,
audio-visual aids especially media people can play massive role
in the community to stop the pandemic which is fast infecting
the youth between the ages of 15-24 years”.
Dr Amrit Kaur Civil Surgeon of Tarn Taran District urged the
community leaders to cooperate, contribute and help the health
department in the awareness campaign against HIV-AIDS.
The students showed keen interest in the Red Ribon Show and their
questions were answered by counselor Raghbir Singh Karlupia and
