Nilam Shinde, a 35-year-old Indian student, remains in critical condition in the US after a road accident in California on February 14. She suffered severe head and chest injuries after being hit by a four-wheeler.

Her family in Satara, Maharashtra, learned about the accident two days later and has been struggling to secure a visa for her father, Tanaji Shinde, to be by her side. The hospital has sought permission for brain surgery, according to the family.

Following multiple appeals and political intervention by NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule, the US has scheduled an emergency visa interview for Tanaji Shinde at 9 AM on Friday.

With the interview now set, the family hopes he can soon travel to the US to be with his critically injured daughter.
