Yesterday, Canada immigration Dept. discovered 42 wedding scam
cases that submitted by 42 different Indians applying for citizenship.
- All the weddings had taken place at the same Wedding Hall in
Chandigarh, India
- In each marriage, you can see same guests were present there.
Liberal MP Roy Cullen, who has 29,000 South Asians in his Etobicoke
North riding, says many Indo-Canadians in his riding have expressed
concerns over this "abuse" of the system. Most of them
can't qualify as skilled workers and the only way they can qualify
is under the family class.
- More than 60,000 Canadians marry overseas each year and file
international spousal sponsorships
- About 15% are rejected by Canada Citizenship and Immigration.
- Actually India has rejected case about 23%.
Canada immigration Dept. is considering to amend the law for foreign
spouse visas on a probation three to five years and then provide
permanent landed status.
Sukhjinder Singh from vancouver said, there are few well known
people in the City and as well as some travel agents are very active
in this business who charge $15,000-$30,000 in each case
