Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today administered the oath of office and secrecy to three Akali MLAs as Chief Parliamentary Secretaries at a simple but impressive ceremony held here at Punjab Bhawan.

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Chief Parliamentary Secretaries (CPSs) included Mr. Harmeet Singh Sandhu (Tarn Taran), Mr.Gurtej Singh Ghuriana (Balluana) and Mr. Inderbir Singh Bolaria (Amritsar South) at Punjab Bhawan Chandigarh on 17.6.2011.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s office said that the newly appointed chief parliamentary secretaries (CPSs) who took the oath included Mr. Harmeet Singh Sandhu (Tarn Taran), Mr. Gurtej Singh Ghuriana (Balluana) and Mr. Inderbir Singh Bolaria (Amritsar South). Chief Secretary Mr. S.C. Agrawal conducted the proceedings of the swearing-in-ceremony of these newly appointed CPSs. Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Animal Husbandry Minister Mr. Gulzar Singh Ranike, former Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia along with the senior party leaders and workers of SAD-BJP Senior officers of state, civil and police administration were also present on the occasion.

CM APPROVES RS. 50.63 CRORE DEVELOPMENT WORKS FOR HOSHIARPUR DISTRICT

The Punjab Government has chalked out a comprehensive plan of Rs. 50.63 crore for the overall development of Hoshiarpur district in addition a special development package for the 21 Kandi area blocks in the district.

An announcement to this effect was made by Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal while presiding over a meeting to review the pace of various ongoing development projects and to initiate new projects in Hoshiarpur district. Mr. Badal also mentioned that SAD-BJP Government was fully committed for the overall development of Kandi area, for which an action plan was being finalized.

It was also informed in the meeting that Rs. 21.61 crore would be spent for the development of Hoshiarpur, Rs. 2.99 crore for Talwara, Rs. 5 crore for Dasuya, Rs. 5.14 crore for Mukerian, Rs. 3.87 crore for Tanda, Rs. 2 crore for Mahilpur, Rs. 3.55 crore for Garhshankar, Rs. 2.58 crore for Garhdiwala, Rs. 1.16 crore for Haryana, Rs. 2.73 crore for Sham Chaurasi.

BADAL GIVES NOD TO WILLING PANCHAYATS FOR MERGER IN ADJACENT MC OR NAC BRANDS UPA GOVERNMENT AS THE MOST CORRUPT IN WORLD

NAYAGAON (MOHALI) JUNE 17: Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today announced to merge the willing village panhayats in the adjoining municipal council or notified area committee across the state through a resolution within 15 days provided both entities are mutually agreed upon.

Addressing a mammoth gathering here, Mr. Badal said that this significant decision would hasten up the pace of overall development of both urban and rural sectors. He asked the Local Government Minister Mr. Tikshan Sud who was also present there to direct the Secretary Local Government for the issuing detailed guidelines to all the municipal councils and NACs to ensure timely merger of the interested village panchayats in the local bodies.

The Chief Minister categorically said that the unprecedented development in the state during four-and-a-half-years of our regime was beyond comparison of 30 years of Congress. He said that Congress party was bereft of any political agenda and was merely bragging while SAD-BJP had its progress card full of spectacular achievements be it agriculture, industry, civil aviation, infrastructure, power, education, health care & medical education, rural and urban development.

Lashing at the Congress for its apathetic and discriminatory attitude towards Punjabis, Mr. Badal said that it had always betrayed Punjab on every front. He said that Central policies were inimical to the interests of Punjab and it deliberately devised stringent parameters to exclude Punjab from the ambit of these centrally sponsored schemes and grants. He also ridiculed the planners of our country for undertaking planning and making schemes for the development of those states for which they were completely ignorant about the ground realities affecting the local economy and its people.

Mr. Badal branded the Congress led UPA government as one of the most corrupt and inefficient government in the world as it had failed miserably on all fronts i.e. in controlling inflation, illiteracy, poverty, unemployment and even the law and order situation.

The Chief Minister said that the SAD-BJP was committed to provide 100% water supply, sewerage, STP besides roads and street lights in all the towns of the state. He said that our government was fully seized of the problems especially the lack of civic amenities in Nayagaon and concerted efforts would be made to provide all these facilities to the residents shortly. He said that the previous Congress government hardly made any attempt to redress the grievances of the people of Nayagaon but he however said that their genuine problems like electricity and water connections would be given to the people on the priority. He said that all the roads would be constructed with in the stipulated time so that the residents of this sleepy town which was adjacent to the city beautiful could also lead a comfortable life with dignity.

Earlier, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone sewerage system and treatment plant and handed over a cheque of Rs.28.08 crore to the NAC. He also announced that 8 deep tubewells would be installed at a cost of Rs.1.85 crore in Nayagaon to tackle the problem of drinking water besides a grid in village Seonk. Apart from this he also announced various development works worth Rs.2.50 crore to be executed in Nayagaon.

VALTOHA APPOINTED AS THE CHAIRMAN DISTRICT PLANNING COMMITTEE TARN TARAN

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today appointed MLA Valtoha Mr. Virsa Singh Valtoha as the Chairman District Planning Committee Tarn Taran in place of MLA Tarn Taran Mr. Harmit Singh Sandhu who has been elevated as Chief Parliamentary Secretary.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the formal orders in this regard would be issued shortly by the state planning department.

Meanwhile, Mr. Harmit Singh Sandhu submitted his resignation as the Chairman District Planning Committee Tarn Taran to the Chief Minister and the same has been accepted.

CM ALLOTTES PORTFOLIOS TO NEWLY APPOINTED CPSs

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today allocated the portfolios to the newly appointed Chief Parliamentary Secretaries namely MLA Tarn Taran Mr. Harmit Singh Sandhu, MLA Balluana Mr. Gurtej Singh Ghuriana and MLA Amritsar (South) Mr. Inderbir Singh Bolaria as Chief Parliamentary Secretaries.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s office said that Mr. Sandhu has been allotted the Agriculture department and attached with Agriculture Minister Mr. Sucha Singh Langh. Mr. Ghurian and Mr. Bolaria has been given the portfolios of Irrigation and Industry & Commerce and attached with Irrigation Minister Mr. Janmeja Singh Sekhon and Industries Minister Mr. Tikshan Sud respectively.

DANAV AND ATIKAY APPOINTED AS THE CHAIRMEN DALIT VIKAS BOARD AND SAFAI KARAMCHARI WELFARE BOARD

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today nominated Mr. Vijay Danav and Mr. Raj Kumar Atikay as the Chairmen of the newly created Dalit Vikas Board and Safai Karamchari Welfare Board Punjab.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that both these newly set up boards would have 11 members each from dalit community. Formal orders regarding these appointments would be issued shortly by the Secretary SCs/BCs Welfare.

PUNJAB TO ISSUE BARAN PROJECT TERMINATION NOTICE TO M/S OMAXE LTD.

The Punjab Government today decided to issue a project termination notice to M/s Omaxe Ltd. which had been selected for an integrated township Project at Baran, Patiala through bidding in 2006.

A decision to this effect was taken during the 44th meeting of Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority held here under the Chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister's office said that according to the agreement Omaxe Ltd. has failed to give employment to 1000 persons in the IT and Bio-Tech sectors by the end of 3rd year from the commencement date i.e. by 9th August 2010 and another 3000 were to be given employment by the end of the 4th year, in addition minimum 1.5 lac sq. feet area of the Township had also to be developed as IT & Biotech sector by 9th August 2010 as a commitment of which was also not yet honoured. It was also decided in the meeting that in future the entire development of the said project would be exclusively executed by PUDA.

SUKHBIR RIDICULES CAPTAIN'S COMMENT ON LAND PURCHASE POLICY POLICY TAKES CARE OF INTERESTS OF SMALL AND MARGINAL FARMERS

June 17:  Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister today ridiculed the statement of  PPCC Chief 
Captain Amarinder Singh criticizing the  new land purchase policy of the Punjab government and said that
 this policy was taking full care of interests of farmers especially small and marginal farmers. 

Talking to media persons at Bhadhour after the Bhog ceremony of Sardarni Harsurinder Kaur mother of prominent Supreme Court Lawyer Mr. H.S. Phulka here today, Mr. Badal said that the Captain Amarinder Singh should first study the policy and than comment on it. He said that this policy ensures full market price to the farmers taking care of interests. He said that Captain was oblivious of people perception about this policy as he never moves around amongst the people.

When asked about erection of wall on Hansi Butana, Mr. Badal said that Punjab would not allow anyone to encroach upon its water rides and would contest this issue in Apex Court with full preparation.

Earlier Mr. Badal paid glowing tributes to Sardarni Harsurinder Kaur.

Mr. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Member Rajya Sabha, SGPC President Mr. Avtar Singh also paid tributes on this occasion.

EXPECTANT MOTHERS TO GET RS 1000 AT TIME OF DELIVERY UNDER ‘MATA KAUSHALAYA KALYAN YOJANA’HEALTH MINISTER TO LAUNCH YOJANA ON JUNE 20TH

CHANDIGARH, JUNE 17: The Punjab government today announced to give an amount of Rs 1000 to expectant mothers at the time of delivery under ‘Mata Kaushalaya Kalyan Yojana’ (MKKY) to promote institutional deliveries in the government hospitals. The MKKY would be formally launched on June 20th at Patiala.

Disclosing this here today, Health Minister Mr. Satpal Gosain said that the MKKY would be initiated with the purpose of promoting institutional deliveries in the public hospitals to curb the maternal and infant mortality rate. He said that Rs 1000 secured for providing nutritious and balanced diet to the expectant mothers after delivery. He said that ‘Janni Suraksha Yojana’ has already existed for expectant mothers of Below Poverty Line families in government hospitals. He said that state government has disbursed the advance payment to the concerned authorities to make the Yojana a success in public interest.

Mr. Gosain said that 192 deaths were recorded in Punjab out of 5 lakh deliveries annually in government hospitals. He said that state government is firmed to curb the maternal and infant mortality rate across the state by making people aware from the benefits of institutional deliveries. He said that root cause of maternal death was home deliveries and people should avoid such deliveries by taking full benefits of ultra modern and quality health facilities in the state-of-the-art government hospitals.

 

PUNJAB ANNOUNCES NEW POLICY TO COMPENSATE FOR DAMAGE TO CROP BY WILD ANIMALS


Chandigarh, June 17: The Punjab government today announced a comprehensive policy of compensation for loss of human life or injury to human beings, livestock loss, damage to crops or other property due to attack by Blue Bull, wild boar and other wild animals.

According to an official spokesman said that the state government was receiving persistent complaints from the farmers about the damage done to their crops by the wild animals.

The government has approved a compensation policy for giving compensation of Rs. 4000 per acre in the case of crop damage and market value of cattle killed as asset by livestock inspector and veterinary officers. In the case of loss of human life an ex-gratia of Rs. 1,00,000 and in the cases of grievous injuries Rs. 20,000 would be given.

 

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO START E-TENDERING FROM JULY 1


Chandigarh, June 17: The Punjab Education department has decided to start e-tendering process for procurement of various items and hiring of different services from July 1.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of State Education department said that e-tendering was being adopted in Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan ( SSA ), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksa Abhiyan ( RMSA ), Punjab ICT Education Society ( PICTES ), Punjab Edusat Society ( PES ) and Punjab Mid Day Meal Society (MDM) in first phase.

The Spokesman said that now the willing contractors to get themselves registered with Punjab government’s e-tendering portal i.e. etender.punjabgovt.gov.in. He clarified that Class 3 signature was compulsory for taking part in e-tendering process.The spokesman said that the decision to implement e-tendering was aimed to bring total transparency and more efficiency in various services being provided in these societies.

Upinderjit Kaur asks for earlier completion of interior exhibit designs of Khalsa Heritage Complex


Chandigarh June 17: The Punjab Government has directed the officers of Anandpur Sahib Foundation (ASF) to complete the interior exhibit designs of the prestigious Khalsa Heritage Complex (KHC) at the earliest so that the first phase of this project could be dedicated to the Nation on 1st September. This was stated by Dr Upinderjit Kaur Finance Minister Punjab, who is also Chairperson of Anandpur Sahib Foundation Executive Committee, on Friday in a meeting with ASF officers at ASF office.

She said that this project was a unique endeavour of the Punjab Government to showcase the different facets and various aspects of 500 years of Sikh history and culture for the future generations about their rich Punjabi culture and glorious traditions. She asked the officers to accomplish its all interior exhibit designs of second phase by 30th November in a transparent and fair manner by ensuring and maintaining its quality and standard also.

The Finance Minister further informed that the architectural grandeur of Khalsa Heritage Complex (KHC), being built at a cost of Rs. 254.84 crore, would enable it to become one of the wonders of the modern world in propagating the basic tenets and philosophy of Sikhism besides the fusion of culture highlighting the concept of Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiat.

Among others Mr K.B.S Sidhu Principal Secretary Finance, Mr Dilip Kumar Secretary Finance, Mr Karamjit Singh Sra CEO Anandpur Sahib Foundation, also participated in the deliberations.

SUKHBIR PAYS SURPRISE VISIT TO CHECK QUALITY AND PACE OF ONGOING DEVELOPMENT WORKS

Bathinda, June 17
Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab and President Shiromani Akali Dal today paid surprise visit to various sites in Bathinda district to inspect the quality and progress of ongoing development works.

The residents of Maur Mandi and Rama Mandi today felt astonished as Mr. Badal suddenly appeared on the roads and streets of the towns with a cavalcade of administrative officers and personally examined the development works being carrying out there. Meanwhile, Mr. Badal interacted with local populace and took their feedback on current development activities.

Giving an account of the pace of development works in the state, Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that it was first time in that history that not only cities but even Mandis and towns of the state were witnessing an era of development. Mr. Badal said that he had chalked out a plan to pay surprise visit to the development sites across the state to ensure their quality and speedy completion. He said that he felt satisfied by visiting Maur Mandi and Rama Mandi, where the work on sewerage had been completed up to 85 percent, the work of strengthening streets, streetlights would be installed soon. He said that he got feedback from common residents of these mandis and directed the concerned officials to take immediate actions to solve the grievances.

Talking to media after examining the work of laying the astroturf at Rajindra college hockey stadium here, Mr. Badal said that SAD-BJP combine would contest the coming Vidhan Sabha on the issues like development and administrative reforms. He said that the people of the state had witnessed a development wave and were feeling quite dignified after the implementation of administrative reforms. He said that implementation of Right to Service Act would add another star in our ‘Raj Nahi Sewa’ policy. He said that corrupt, issueless and visionless Congress would proved to be no match to SAD-BJP combine and people of the Punjab would give clean sweep defeat to this anti people party and its hidden alies. Later, Mr. Badal also check the up gradation work being carrying out at Bathinda Sports Stadium.
