Two NRI brothers Harwant Singh Gill and Narinder Singh Gill, hailing
from Mullanpur village and settled in London for the last about 40
years, have donated a sum of Rs 1.2 lakh to the village panchayat
for the repair of the leaking roof of the building of the primary
school in the village.
The Gill brothers said they had donated the amount in
memory of their father late Sewa Singh Subedar. They were asked for
the donation for the village dispensary by the panchayat but they decided
to donate the amount to the school as they had studied in the same school.
They donated the cheque to village sarpanch Amrik Singh.
Those present on the occasion were all panchayat members
and panch Bibi Surinder Kaur, who had requested for the donation. Warrant
officer Ishar Singh will look after the repair work.
