Madhuri Dixit, who took a break from Bollywood after marrying an NRI, is set to mesmerise her fans again but says she will sign only those films that can be shot in the US where she is now based.

According to media reports, she has made it crystal clear that in her second innings she is not going to be working full time because her children are very small and need her.

There are many filmmakers who still want to cast the actress, including veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra. He has offered her a role in his upcoming movie. Way back in 1997 they had teamed up for the super hit film "Dil To Paagal Hai".

The actress didn't deny that Chopra had offered her a role but said it was too early to talk about it because everything was at the discussion level only.

Madhuri, who captivated the hearts of millions with performances in "Tezaab" (1988), "Beta" and "Saajan", moved to the US after marrying Sriram Nene, a doctor by profession.

Last month, after a long gap, she made an appearance at the 51st Fair One Filmfare awards function and gave a superb dance performance, choreographed by Saroj Khan.

She is holidaying in Mumbai these days with her two sons - three-year-old Arin and one-year-old Ryan - and is also reading scripts and meeting directors.

Now Madhuri Dixit is NRI, housewife, true mother.....

Madhuri Dixit, the powerhouse actress that she was nominated for "FILMFARE" award in '89 for "TEZAAB", FILMFARE award in '90 for "PREM PRATIGYA" and FILMFARE award in '91 for "DIL" for her acting prowess and performance on the screen. She got the "BEST ACTRESS" award from FILMFARE in '93 for the magnificient role she played in "BETA" and the "BEST ACTRESS" award from FILMFARE in '95 for the incomparable performance in "HUM AAPKE HAI KAUN". Later in '96 she won the "BEST ACTRESS" award from SCREEN VIDEOCON for her performance in "RAJA" and the "BEST ACTRESS" award from ZEE LUX in '97 for the ultimate role she performed in "DIL TO PAGAL HAI".

She has been living in Denver, U.S for last some years after getting married to an NRI named Dr. Shriram Nene, who is a cardio-thoracic surgeon by profession. Dixit's brother “Ajit” happened to be a turning point in her life when he had arranged a meeting between the two (Madhuri and Dr. Shriram) thus this meeting took both of them to settle into life. Today she is a proud mother as well. Her son “Arin” is an ultimate joy of life to her. From midnight feeds to diaper changes and nappy washes, she has been doing all like a true mother and loves to do it all. She has two identities today…one, she is known as a top class actress called Madhuri Dixit” and the second, she is Mrs. Nene due to her married status in society.

Everyday she wakes up at five in the morning since her husband has to go for work. After her hubby leaves home, she goes back in the lap of sleep again. Madhuri had carried the dance cassettes with her for practice purpose when she left for U.S to join her husband's home. Unfortunately for her, she could not manage with it due to plenty of engagements at home, she had with her. Her day's routines perfectly match to those of any housewife's in general such as she looks after the house, takes care her son, does all house work, cooks the food and waits for her husband's return from work.

In order to get a driving license, like other general people, she had to undergo a driving test in Florida. At the petrol pumps, she fills up the gas by her own. While shopping, sometimes Indians recognize her face and ask her, “Are you Madhuri Dixit?” It soothes the actress. A feature on her last released classic movie “Devdas” published by Time Magazine soared sky-high making her more popular in the U.S. Dixit is much proud of the compliment of becoming an icon and a role model for the girls to emulate her style.

Coming back to filmdom, Madhuri simply says, “How can you call it a comeback whereas I have never said that I've quit acting. It is in my bones instead and to keep myself busy, I will go for doing one or two films a year.” Now she returns to film world with a movie directed by Somnath Sen and produced by Kavita Munjal (Lemon tree Films). Discussions with Big B (Amitabh Bachchan) are going on to sign him as Madhuri's co-star. Apart from this pair, the film will also feature two more heroes and one more heroine. Fardeen Khan and Karan Nath have been in makers' eyes but not been confirmed yet. The shooting will take place in August this year and the movie will be shot entirely in Mumbai. The film will hit the theaters by the end of the year.

The cinegoers will be watching the magic of their beloved actress for the first time after “Devdas”. The story is about the comedy of errors and generational drama. T.V. Narayan has written it. Screenplay has been penned jointly by T.V. Narayan and Somnath Sen. Most of the top producers and directors like to sign Madhuri in their films and that shows the huge demand of the actress who still looks as boisterous as she was in the early days of her career.

Biography

Madhuri Dixit was born on 15 May '67 in a middle class family to "Shankar" and "Sneha Latha Dixit". She's called Bubbly" at home and has got two sisies and one brother. Madhuri Dixit made a humble beginning with the Rajshris. The film was called Abodh and had the then Tollywood (Calcutta) superstar Tapash Pal cast as her hero.

This beautiful, slim, svelte and charming young girl has captivated the hearts of millions in INDIA with just one number - "Ek Do Teen" in "TEJAAB", her second film that catapulted her to the limelight all of a sudden makin' the movie a blockbuster at the box office. Looks, Dance and The Skill! What else would the BOLLYWOOD ask for.

In no time is Madhuri the top class acting genius and has become NO 1 in the BOLLYWOOD proving her acting capabilities over and over again in all her films that though a movie in which she acted didn't do pretty well at the box office,

The film bombed and Madhuri's future in Bollywood did not seem too bright. Filmmaker Subhash Ghai wasn't detracted though. He always said that Madhuri had the potential to be the number one and maintained at that.

Ghai did not give up on the Maharashtrian beauty and re-introduced her in Ram Lakhan. The film succeeded in exposing Madhuri's beauty and people dubbed her as the reincarnation of Madhubala.

The film that cut the ice and established Madhuri in the big league was N Chandra's Tezaab. The film was a huge success and the Saroj Khan-choreographed 'Ek do teen' entered the hallmark of extremely popular dance numbers. The item with a liberal dose of jhatkas not only propelled Madhuri towards stardom, it also established Saroj Khan as a hot dance director.

After Tezaab, producers and directors waited for months to let Madhuri's dates coincide with Saroj's. Meanwhile, Subhash Ghai was still carving out a strategy to present Madhuri as the successor to the then reigning queen Sridevi. Khalnayak fulfilled his dream. Madhuri became the next super girl with 'Choli ke peeche'.

Madhuri still reins but marriage has made changes in her list of priorities. She has cut down on her assignments and spends more time with her medico husband based in Los Angeles.
