New York: Oct 12 th New York Gatka Association clinched the overall trophy at the 3rd US National Gatka Championship at The Sikh Center of New York Inc. The event was organized by the Gatka Federation USA- an umbrella organization to manage, standardize, promote and popularize the Gatka-Sikh Martial Art in USA under the aegis of World Gatka Federation (WGF).
Kansas Gatka Association finished runners-up while MA Gatka Association achieved third place.

This inaugural national event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 125 Singh and Kaur’s representing different State Gatka Associations and Akharas in the US. The competition was jointly organized by the Gatka Federations USA in association with the host state New York Gatka chapter- New York Gatka Association.

At the time of opening ceremony and prize distribution ceremony Kalvinder Singh Fresno, President Gatka Federation USA & Chairman World Gatka Federation (WGF), Dr Deep Singh General Secretary World Gatka Federation (WGF), Swaranjit Singh councilman from Norwich, CT, Hirdey pal Singh, Harminder Singh Ahluwalia, Gurtej S. Dhanju & other team members of World Sikh Parliament (WSP), Rajinder Singh Baba Banda Singh Bahadar Society, Sarabjit Singh Sahni, Guru Gobind Singh Sikh Study circle, Dr. Sunil Kanwar Singh PA, Gagandeep Singh AKJ, Sital Singh Sikh Cultural Society NY, Moninder Singh Director United Sikhs, Dr. Avtar S Tinna & Satnam Singh Parhar long island NY accompanied by Sarabjit Kaur Westchester County &S Daler Singh, Baba Makhan Shah Lobana Sikh Center NY.

Officials from Gatka Federation USA congratulated all winners of 3rd US National Gatka Championship and thanked all volunteers for successfully organizing the national-level Gatka championship in New York. They emphasized the Federation’s commitment to promoting the Sikh martial art of Gatka and assured unwavering support for all State Gatka Associations,
Akharas & Academies and players.

The final results of the 3rd US National Gatka Championship were as follows; In Single Soti Individual Under- 21 men's event, Harmeet Singh, Mandeep Singh and Sandeep Singh secured 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd positions respectively all from Baba Deep Singh Gatka Akhara. In the girl’s category, U-21 Gurvinder Kaur from Kansas Gatka Association, Harnoor Kaur shaheed Baba Deep Singh Gatka akhara NY and Sharan Kaur from Shaheed Bhai Alam Singh Gatka Akhara North Carolina Secured 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd positions respectively. In the Single Soti under 17 Girls event Oneet Kaur NJ Gatka Association clinched first position, Gurkeerat Kaur from Kansas Gatka Association, KS, secured 2 nd position and Seerat Kaur from Pennsylvania Gatka Association got 3 rd position. while Manpreet Singh Akal Gatka Gurmat Group NY, Anmolpreet singh and Karanpreet Singh
secured 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd positions respectively.

Under-14 Girl’s Demonstration event, Seerat Kaur Khalsa School Medford MA, Sonampreet Kaur, Khalsa School Medford, MA and Erleen Kaur Bali from Kansas Gatka Association secured 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd places respectively whereas in
the boy’s category, Harjaap Singh & Puneet Singh both from Gatka Akhara- Darbar Sri Akhara MA secured 1 st 2 nd and 3 rd positions respectively. 

Besides these winners Gurnoor Singh from Akal Gatka Gurmat Group, NY was picked as a Best Player in men’s category and Brahmleen Kaur from North Carolina Gatka Association in women’s category. North Carolina Gatka Association received Fair Play team Award in team category while Amitoj Singh from Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Gatka Akhara New York received Fair
Play Award in individual category. In Men’s individual category Gurnaman Singh from Mai Bhago Gatka Akhara Pennsylvania received Emerging Player award and Harnidh Kaur from Gatka Akhara New York in women’s category. Judgement and Referee Council:

The judges and referees at the tournament were S. Lovepreet Singh Aman Saskatoon (Center Referee) from Canada, Harbhajan Singh NC, Karansher Singh PA, Bhai Gagandeep Singh AKJ, Sujan Singh, Jaskeerat Singh, Kiranjot Kaur, Jashandeep Singh, Gurpreet Singh NY, Dr Harpreet Kaur as Commentator, Bhai Sarabjit Singh DDT and Bhai Dalbir Singh AKJ, Prabhdeep Singh and Harinder singh Nihug also helped to manage the Referee and Judgement council.
