A native of Philadelphia, Paramjitinder
Singh Dhillon (PJ) has more than 26 years of engineering experience
in various areas of government, most recently serving as an Engineering
Specialist with the Philadelphia Water Department. In addition to a
bachelors degree in civil engineering from the Institution of
Engineers in Calcutta, India, Dhillon holds several certificates in
the operation of wastewater treatment plants and collection systems.

On behalf of Governor Edward G. Rendell, Environmental
Protection Secretary Kathleen A. McGinty appointed P.J. Dhillon as a
member of the Special Science and Technology Resources Team in DEPs
Office of Water Management in Harrisburg. Dhillon is the first Sikh
hired by the administration.
P.J.s extensive experience in government
civil engineering will help to ensure that Pennsylvania is using the
best technology and sound science available in the evaluation and issuance
of its many water and wastewater permits, Secretary McGinty said.
This special team is key in evaluating the very technical aspects
of DEPs many water and wastewater permits. P.J. will help us stay
up-to-date on the latest research and innovation in wastewater technology
to help us to protect our waterways and improve our permitting process.
As a member of the Special Science and Technology Resources
Team, Dhillon will work with groups, technology developers and reviewers
to enhance the departments water and wastewater technology efforts
by providing a more consistent process in permit reviews, policy development
and research efforts.
Commissioner PJ Dhillon and his wife, Dhillon Surinderjit
Kaur, have two boys: Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, 25, and Rupinderjit Singh
Dhillon, 23; both are pursuing MDs. The Commissioner is the fourth of
five children, and the son of late retired army officer Sardar Buta
Singh Dhillon.
