AUSTRALIA'S PROJECTED IMMIGRATION INTAKE TO 2005/2006 ANNOUNCED

Australian Immgiration have announced that barring exceptional circumstances the present migration intake range of 100,000 to 110,000 per annum will be maintained until 2005-2006

The present projected intake level includes:
Skilled Visas 63,500

These are places for skilled migrants (persons who gain entry essentially because of their work skills) and their immediate families.

Family Visa Categories 40,600

These include places for family migrants (persons sponsored by family members already in Australia)

Included in the Family Visa category are 7,000 parent visas which will be made up of 5500 places for the recently introduced Contributory Parent visas and 1,500 for the Parent and Aged Parent categories
