Bend It Like Beckham star joins ER

Bend It Like Beckham star Parminder Nagra is to join the cast of ER.She will playing an English-educated intern in the US medical drama.Nagra was asked if she would like to be in the show during a meeting with series creator John Wells.

She told the New York Post: "He kind of just came out with it, really, and said "How do you fancy doing some ER?""I just kind of went, 'Well, umm, yes".

I couldn't have been more flattered, really."Nagra's ER character is being worked out and still without a name, but the actress says she does know she will be playing "an intern born in India but raised and educated in England," which will be a way of "keeping her British accent.

"She said of her character, who has yet to be named: "At the moment, she seems like someone who really knows her stuff, is very astute, very work-conscious, very kind of straight forward."
