Vijay Singh earned his third victory of the season
in a playoff at the Wachovia Championship on Sunday
and in the process inched closer to top-ranked Tiger
Woods in the latest Official World Golf Ranking.
Woods suffered a two-stroke penalty in the final
round of the Wachovia Championship that dropped him
into a tie for 11th. Woods currently has 13.06 points
in the ranking, while Singh is right behind him with
12.88.
Ernie Els stayed put at No. 3 followed by Retief
Goosen and Phil Mickelson. Chris DiMarco exchanged
positions with Adam Scott to come in at No. 6 this
week.

to No. 8. Padraig Harrington dropped to No. 9, while
David Toms completed the top 10.

spots with Mike Weir, with the Englishman moving to
No. 12 and the Canadian falling to No. 13. Darren
Clarke was up one to No. 14 and Kenny Perry climbed
to No. 15.
Davis Love III plunged two positions to come in at
No. 16 this week followed by Stuart Appleby. Jim Furyk
lost to Singh on the fourth playoff hole on Sunday,
but the runner-up finish was good enough to vault
the former U.S. Open champion from No. 26 to No. 18.
Miguel Angel Jimenez and Chad Campbell each dropped
one spot to round out the top 20.
K.J. Choi titled last week at the SK Telecom Open
in South Korea. The victory moved him to No. 27 in
