HOOSIER HERITAGE NIGHT CELEBRATION
Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
June 16, 2011
Kanwal Prakash Singh
Thank you for honoring me with the Hoosier Heritage Lifetime Achievement Award and placing me in the august company of this year’s and past recipients of this great honor. I know that I have a lot of catching up to do with other recipients of this honor. Thank you for acknowledging my modest contribution to making you aware of our rich architectural, cultural, and spiritual hertiage through my drawings, writings, and persistent advocacy over the last nearly 44 years.
I would like to thank Ms. Deborah Thornburgh for nominating my name and the Awards Committee for selecting me for this honor. I appreciate the kind and generous introduction.
I am grateful for the blessings and opportunities that I have had over the last 46 years in America and since making Indianapolis my home in 1967. I am grateful to my wife Janice, my two sons, and a host of friends and well-wishers who have guided me forward with great patience, with unimagined and much-appreciated personal support, and with much kindness. I thank everyone for your expressions of thoughtfulness, friendship, and encouragement over the years.
Now that I have received my second Lifetime Achievment Award, I think that I need to take my blessings and your trust in me more seriously. I hope to stay engaged and look to the future with renewed optimism as an opportunity to pursue ideas that help me grow as a citizen.
I think that the Lifetime Achhievement recognitions are not a signal for retirement but a wake-up call to further excel and explore new and unfinished dreams while we have the opportunity and faculties to recognize their significance to our lives and to others around us.
Thank you for the Award and the wake-up call. My congratulations to the leadership of The Heritage Place, for your efforts to recognize outstanding citizens and inspiring us to learn from their spirit and contributions.
